Born in Granollers in Spain on 30 July 1989, Aleix Espargarò was the Spanish 125 champion in 2004. After a run of placings in the 125 and 250 classes in 2012 he emerged as the leading rider in a CRT (the ART developed by Aprilia Racing) in the World Championships premier class, a result he backed up the following year. Among his more recent successes is a podium finish at Silverstone in 2021, marking the first ever result of its kind in MotoGP for Aprilia. In 2022, he notched up his first victory and 6 podium finishes in total, ending in fourth place overall in the world championships. The 2023 season saw him add two more important wins to his CV, with victory at Silverstone and then at Barcelona in the Catalunya GP.
